"YESTERDAY I WAS CLEVER, SO I WANTED TO CHANGE THE WORLD! TODAY I AM WISE, SO I AM CHANGING MYSELF" - PERSIAN POET RUMI.
Yes we all can change the world! But that change must begin with oneself! Mahatma Gandhi was an England trained Barrister accustomed to Western way of life. But when he was in South Africa, he experienced discrimination in the hands of White people! He was even thrown out of a First Class Compartment in the train, as only Whites were allowed to travel by first Class. He started a movement against discrimination, and upon his return to India he focused on getting the Britishers out of India. The British educated Barrister changed himself to be an ordinary Indian, feeling the pulse of the country. He spearheaded the struggle for India's independence, and won!
He changed himself to be a simple "half naked fakir", giving up ownership to anything of value. When he left the world he owned nothing. He had a pair of glasses, a pair of sandals, and a cane and his copy of Bhagavad Gita. But he did change the world. He became the beacon of hope for all the oppressed people, and he inspired leaders like Martin Luther King, who fought for equality for people of color. .
Yes we all can change the world! But let that change begin with you, and me.
